Whipps Wilderness Safaris offers fully guided, fully catered and supported slack-packing hikes through some of Namibia’s most remote and rewarding landscapes. These are not ordinary walking trails. Each route has been created to bring hikers closer to the land, its people, wildlife and stories—whether walking through the vast pans of Bushmanland, along Damaraland riverbeds, among Wüstenquell’s granite sculptures, or from farm to farm in the Kalahari. Guests carry only a day-pack with water, snacks and personal essentials. The WWS support team transports luggage between camps, sets up the mobile safari camp and prepares wholesome meals.
At the end of each walking day, hikers return to comfortable Sahara A-frame tents with beds, mattresses, duvets, linen, solar lights, bush showers, eco-toilets and a relaxed communal dining area. Each day begins with tea, coffee and rusks before setting off into the cool of the morning. A generous brunch is served en route, followed by an afternoon snack and dinner around the fire or under the stars. Drinking water is supplied throughout the hike, and the WWS team is always nearby with back-up support. Local guides and community partners form an important part of selected routes, adding real local knowledge and connection to the experience.
